WritingBlog(s) is a site intended to support college-level writers' efforts by encouraging regular writing. You can use this site to blog, to upload files, and to discuss matters, using the forum. The goal of public writing, in part, is to prepare you for contemporary literacies (writing, collaborating, publishing, and archiving online, etc). As a citizen of our digital world, you need to be able to locate, critique, and author online.
Before putting any public writing on the web, think before you publish. Don’t publish anything that might embarrass you tomorrow, next week, or in 20 years. Imagine how your online texts might impinge on your future employment (or presidential campaign). Even though you may delete an entry, the InternetArchive.Org or some other indexing entity may archive your work. Never publish anything on a website that you are uncomfortable sharing with strangers, and avoid disclosing personal information. As an alternative to publishing your name on online documents, feel free to use a pseudonym or seek less public media in consultation with your teacher.
Remember, also, for this course and all of your courses, you are free to delete your wiki pages or blog pages, although you may want to back up this archive. Below are some additional resources that may help inform you about the benefits and disadvantages of online writing.
